Therapy & Nutrition Counseling
for Eating Disorders
Healing your relationship with food and your body is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
At Beyond Measure, we provide specialized care for eating disorders and disordered eating through a collaborative team of licensed therapists and registered dietitians. Whether you’re seeking help for yourself or a loved one, we offer compassionate, evidence-based support grounded in a Health at Every Size® (HAES) approach.
We work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across California, offering both in-person services at our Redwood City office and secure virtual appointments. Our multidisciplinary team is deeply committed to helping you find peace with food, trust in your body, and a life beyond the numbers.

You may benefit from support if you:
- Obsess over food, calories, weight, or exercise
- Feel guilt or shame after eating
- Have rigid food rules or rituals that feel out of control
- Avoid social events or relationships because of food or body concerns
- Feel stuck in a cycle of restriction and bingeing
- Engage in compensatory behaviors like purging or excessive exercise
- Struggle with low self-worth tied to your body size or shape
- Feel overwhelmed trying to “eat right” but don’t know where to start
Eating disorders and disordered eating aren’t always visible and they’re never just about food. These patterns often serve as coping mechanisms for deeper emotional pain, anxiety, trauma, or unmet needs. Our job is to help you uncover what’s beneath the behaviors and build a more connected, values-aligned way of living.

- Anorexia Nervosa
- Bulimia Nervosa
- Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
- Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
- Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED)
We understand that no two individuals experience an eating disorder the same way.
Whether you’ve just begun to recognize disordered eating patterns or you’ve been struggling for years, our team is here to meet you with curiosity, care, and deep respect for your pace of healing.
Our therapists focus on the emotional, behavioral, and psychological aspects of eating disorders. This may include work on trauma, identity, anxiety, perfectionism, family dynamics, or body image. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Our dietitians bring specialized training in eating disorder recovery and intuitive eating. They provide nutrition counseling that goes far beyond meal plans—focusing instead on helping clients reconnect with internal cues, develop flexible eating patterns, and challenge food fears or rigid beliefs. They also work with clients on physical nourishment, digestive concerns, sports nutrition, and pre/postnatal nutrition when relevant.
We collaborate closely as a team, checking in behind the scenes, aligning on treatment goals, and ensuring your care is holistic and seamless. We never want you to feel like you’re starting from scratch when switching between providers.
Instead, we focus on:
- Supporting behavioral and emotional wellbeing
- Encouraging attunement to hunger, fullness, and satisfaction
- Exploring systemic and cultural factors that influence body image
- Challenging weight stigma, diet culture, and internalized bias
- Helping you build sustainable habits rooted in compassion, not control
This approach allows us to work with you, not against your body, and to support recovery that lasts.
We also offer family-based therapy (FBT) when appropriate, while recognizing that strict manualized FBT doesn’t work for every family. We adapt our approach to each family’s unique values, capacity, and dynamics.
Treatment is never about finding blame. We see parents as vital allies in your child’s recovery. As parents and caregivers, you’ll have a big job to do, and there may be changes we ask you to make in support of your child. We’ll support you along the way with tools, education, and emotional guidance so you can feel confident in your role.
- Anxiety or panic attacks
- Depression and low self-worth
- Trauma or complex PTSD
- Obsessive-compulsive tendencies

Because our practice includes therapists with a wide range of specialties, we’re able to support the full spectrum of what you’re carrying. We treat eating disorders in context, helping you understand how they connect to the rest of your mental, emotional, and relational health.
We also recognize how systemic oppression—including weight stigma, racism, ableism, and transphobia—can impact both body image and access to care. We strive to provide inclusive, affirming services, grounded in our values of justice and cultural humility
