Therapy for Trauma / PTSD
Our approach to trauma therapy is grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and a deep respect for your unique lived experiences. We recognize that trauma is not defined by the event itself, but by its lasting impact on your sense of safety, identity, and connection.

Here are some signs that unresolved trauma might be showing up in your daily life:
- You feel on edge much of the time or have trouble relaxing
- You experience nightmares, flashbacks, or disturbing memories
- You avoid people, places, or situations that remind you of the trauma
- You find it hard to trust others or feel emotionally close
- You have unexplained physical symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, or digestive issues
- You struggle with shame, guilt, or self-blame
- You often feel detached, disconnected, or numb
Each of these experiences can be part of the body’s natural trauma response. You are not broken. Your system has learned to survive—our work is to help it feel safe enough to begin healing.

- Learning grounding and regulation tools to manage overwhelm
- Exploring how trauma lives in the body, not just the mind
- Identifying what safety looks and feels like for you
- Building internal and external resources for support
Once a foundation of safety is in place, we can move into gentle trauma processing using evidence-based modalities that support deep healing.
Some of the modalities we offer include:
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): combining cognitive, behavioral, and relational techniques to help process trauma, build coping skills, and restore a sense of safety.
- Prolonged Exposure (PE): gently and gradually revisiting traumatic memories and avoided situations in a structured way to reduce fear, build resilience, and reclaim your life from trauma.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): shifting thought patterns that keep you stuck and examining how trauma has impacted your beliefs about safety, trust, power and control, self-worth, and intimacy.
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Your therapy will be tailored to your needs, preferences, and readiness.
- Emotionally immature or narcissistic caregivers
- Religious or cultural trauma
- Childhood abuse or neglect
- Growing up in high-conflict or invalidating environments
- Long-term exposure to systemic oppression or marginalization
- Medical trauma
- Physical assault
- Sexual trauma and intimate partner violence (IPV)
- Accidents and natural disasters
- Exposure to combat or war

A key element of TF-CBT is the creation of a trauma narrative. This is a gradual, supportive process where the child or teen is guided in sharing and making sense of their traumatic experience. This helps reduce distress around the memory, correct unhelpful beliefs, and promote healing. The narrative is developed at the child’s pace, with care taken to ensure they feel safe and empowered throughout. Another key part of TF-CBT is caregiver involvement. When appropriate, trusted adults are included in the treatment process to support healing, strengthen relationships, and reinforce coping skills at home.
Our therapists create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where children and teens can feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal. While early adverse experiences can leave a lasting impact, with the right support, young people can heal and build meaningful, fulfilling lives.
